Finding Real Food

Ever since I made my video about the supermarket, people have been asking me where I shop and what I eat. A lot of the time, I do shop at the supermarket but I just avoid processed foods and anything irradiated or GMO. Simple. But when I get the chance, I go down to our local farmer’s market, Atwater Market. It is really worth it when it comes to meat, because the stuff at the supermarket doesn’t taste nearly as good and the animals were probably not treated very well at all. At the farmer’s market, you can get just about anything, but it is especially good for produce, bread, and cheese, including raw milk cheese.Plus it’s a fun trip to a nice place and your shopping supports the local economy instead of the corporate giants. Here is the low-down on fruit codes: 4-digit code starting with 4: conventionally grown 4- digit code starting with 3: conventionally grown but irradiated. This most often includes papayas, oranges, and pomegranates. It can also include pineapples, but they don’t always have stickers, so you can’t always be sure. 5- digit code starting with 9: organic. 5-digit code starting with 8: GMO! Fortunately, they are rare among fresh produce with tags, but packaged fruit like strawberries and tomatoes can be GMO and not have stickers because they are in a box, so I try to make sure that I buy organic or at least local when it comes to those two. Article on fruit irradiation re-posted on my website: naturalbaby.info After I had my son, I needed to lose about

@icecreaman42013 not quite, Where GMO seeds are live, they cross contaminate Non GMO relatives., Also Monsanto have sued farmers for ‘growing’ GM crops, for breach of patent, when the farmer has planted NON GM Crops that have been cross contaminated ! its a disgrace !

My grand-grand parents lived around 100 years with no medicin, vaccines etc, my grand-fathers, one died at war, one in an accident, but my grand mothers lived close to 90. My parents worked as engineers in oil, gas and water digging and now, at 70, are probably getting close… Few uncles and ants, from citties, have had cancer or diabetis or whatever. Now, in the latest survey, 1 of 2 people will suffer/die from such illnesses. Will our kids die before us?..

  • brastaviceanu says:

I’m tired of this citty, soon I’m mooving to Lac Saint-Jean. My girlfriend has family there and, exept for the muskitoes, life is good. There are plenty of farms arround and we want to grow lots of stuff in our own garden. I know something about farming old style as I come from Romania, from the mountain, where we used to live like in the XIXth century. There, they generate zer(0) garbage…

I *finally* found unpasteurized cheese at this store called “Rollin Oats” here in Saint Petersburg, FL. The manager was wicked excited when I asked him because he LOVES this stuff. Apparently he stopped labeling the cheeses as “unpasteurized” because it scared off the customers. But he went through every cheese with me and told me which was which. Quote: “most of my customers are ignorant yuppies, so I have to do it this way.” LOL

Very helpful… i would like to start eating right, but not to many options in the US. I will start to keep an eye on the fruit tags. KEEP IT UP

  • Tihbialdunav says:

O onlu buy non- American cheese, because US-made milk is usually filled with hormones=> cancer. European cheeses taste better anyway. I don’t EVER buy American tomatoes-they have ZERO taste and are GMO.

  • gauchealchemy says:

Awesome – thanks for the info on produce codes!

  • bradford71us says:

note: many “farmers” at farmers markets buy their food in bulk from mass distributors….they still use chemicals…theys till use hybrids….still use GMO food. dont be fooled by “farmers markets”. “organic food” allows up to 200 different chemicals to be used. dont be fooled.

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FARMERS!!!!!!! They are our only chance!

    now i am hungry

  • cuadrature says:

Thank you for the code info. I din’t know that either. I see the day coming soon, after Codex Alimentarius takes full effect throughout the world, when these markets and organic industries will become ILLEGAL and considered ‘unsafe’, just like the vitamins and supplemets the pharmaceuticals wish to eliminate off the face of the earth.

  • thetruthergirls says:

Juice doesn’t retain its vitamin C over time when it’s not pasteurized. They pasteurize it and usually add vit C after. If it says ‘flash pasteurized’, it’s irradiated. I see this on pomegranate juice all the time. Cancels out the benefits of the fruit, for sure.Juice is a scam. Only juice worth drinking, health-wise, is fresh juice you make in a juicer.

  • lesbryab says:

    Thank you!
I eat organic 85 percent of the time.I had no clue about the codes on foods.I thought they were just a means of inventory for stores.I also just checked out the vitamin label on my organic apple juice and noticed it only(along with the codex symbol) that it only provides 2 percent of daily vitamin c. It has obviously been iradeated(?)

  • notmyselfusee says:

@hschoenfeld I dont see the hard to find. I think shes pretty and she isnt overdone. I am sure if she spackled her face she would be “hot” but she is just natural

  • soleilangela says:

to be we can’t all afford to eat organic.

hschoenfeld, that’s not nice .. would you say that to someone you saw in public.

I know I wouldn’t like people talking about my appearance and my body if I made a video.

  • MoonwalkerCriminal says:

so without actively lowering my quality of life should we only go for 5 digit codes starting with a nine ?

  • sabbathcrazy says:

I wish I a place like this in austin. We have a farmers market and a whole foods but nothing like this that i know of

  • hschoenfeld says:

she’s pretty attractive actually.. she has a deep beauty hard to find .. face is good, breasts are decent and otherwise appears like a nice personality..

  • momentinpassing says:

Thank you Truthergirl, I didn’t know about the irradiation number code. Whups! The things that happen when we’re not paying attention.
